Uttarakhand state was carved out
of northern Uttar Pradesh on 9th November 2000 as the 27th State of India.
Since its establishment 22 years still, there is no Biotech Park in Dehradun.
For the first time, the Uttarakhand biotechnology department has proposed in
its annual progress report for 2010-11 to set up a biotech park in the hill
state in order to promote the Biotechnology industries to utilize state
biodiversity to convert its bio-wealth into economic wealth.

There is only an office of the
Biotechnology Department of Uttarakhand at Prem Nagar, Chakrata Road in
Dehradun. But there is no Biotech Park in Dehradun to date. This office is
actually with the Uttarakhand Cooperative Resham Nideshalay. There are a lot of
scopes to develop a Biotechnology Park in Uttarakhand but still work not going
on in this sector.
