CSIR-UGC-NET Exam Pattern

The time allotted for the exam is 180 minutes or 3 hours. The total mark of the paper is 200. This single examination paper has three sections which are Part A, Part B, and Part C. All questions are only in multiple-choice questions (MCQs) format.

Part ‘A’ will carry 20 questions related to Quantitative Reasoning & Analysis, Research Aptitude, and General Science. Students have to solve only 15 questions out of 20 questions. All questions are of two marks.

Part 'B' will contain 50 questions that are based on the given syllabus of life science. Out of 50, only 35 questions have to solve and this section has also two marked questions.

Part 'C' will contain 75 questions that are based on the syllabus of life science but all these questions are specially designed to test a candidate's actual understanding of the syllabus topics, application of the scientific concepts, and knowledge of scientific concepts.

Questions shall be of analytical nature that can be solved by applying scientific knowledge. Out of 75, only 25 questions have to solve and each question has four marks.

CSIR NET has a negative marking system and they will deduct @25% marks for each wrong answer.
